In American society, consumers are constantly looking for the best of the best in order to make their status known. Marketing is very important within the companies providing for this intense and competitive market. The people want what they want to ease daily life or to flaunt their wealth. It is the same for every variety of products out there, and companies need to advertise the best they can to attract these consumers. Technology is a huge and broad market, that also caters to customer’s needs. Within the growing and fast-changing technological world, there are so many different options and brands to choose from such as AMD Radeon, Intel, Nvidia, and several others. As a competitive market, companies such as AMD need to make sure they attract as many people interested as possible. Looking up close at one of AMD’s video advertisements, I feel as if they successfully persuaded their intended audience as well as clearly expressed the goal of their product.

As someone who is consistently involved in the computer world, AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) Radeon is a personal favorite for my desktop like many others. Regardless of how they market their supply, I am a happy customer. On the other hand, there is always room to grow, and I would love to see a favorite company of mine to achieve success. In the specific advertisement I am analyzing, they show off the freedom of expression AMD products allow consumers, labeling competitor’s products as restrictive. The commercial states the “Freedom of Choice”, they offer to consumers. They focused on imagery and color, only displaying a few phrases throughout the one-minute and five-second video. According to Vicki Woschunick in her article explaining different marketing strategies, she states, “Rather than just spew facts and figures, storytelling allows you to weave a memorable tale of who your company is, what you do, how you solve problems, what you value, and how you engage and contribute to your community in general.” Computers can be very confusing and overwhelming to someone who does not know what they are looking for, but in this commercial, AMD did not further confuse their audience and even made the intimidating community more welcoming. Within the advertisement, they gave the audience a simple show of why AMD products are better than other leading products, and as a user of AMD, I felt they made a great representation of their brand.

Although many people are huge fans of AMD Radeon, there are also few who may say “Intel runs faster systems and has better cooling than AMD.” According to an article by Geeks for Geeks, there is the argument that AMD products heat up faster and are not as performative as their competitor, Intel. In contrast, PassMark Software released the performance benchmarks of the top-performing central processing units and graphics cards. Their research shows that AMD is a top contender in both CPUs and graphic cards. As for how fast they heat up, there is no definitive research as everyone has different purposes and uses for products. For example, some may have a better cooling system or more fans in their computer compared to others. There have always been debates between the companies due to AMD branching off from Intel in 1996. AMD supplied chips that were compatible with Intel chips for others systems causing issues between the companies, as talked about by Erik Gregersen in his entry of Britannica.

Intel is not AMD’s only big rival, Nvidia comes in as a huge competitor for both AMD and Intel. Their graphics cards are some of the best in the market next to AMD Radeon products. Advanced Micro Devices offers more consumer-friendly and affordable products than Nvidia as stated by Bill Thomas in his article, “AMD vs Nvidia 2021: Which Makes the Best Graphics Cards”. Although they are very close to each other when it comes to the performance of their products it heavily depends on what you buy, considering both of them have different things to offer. AMD is compatible with its rival’s products, but on the other hand, Intel and Nvidia are not able to provide that compatibility to users. Nvidia is more recently coming around to giving consumers more feedback, but AMD has always been there for their users and continues to make products that are easier to use and understand. Bill mentions, “In the end, both of these companies rely on competition with each other to thrive.” There is a good point to his statement, but that is where the display of products is most important when providing for this growing market.

With advertising, there are many ways to allure consumers. Taking a deeper look at AMD Radeon’s video, you can notice many methods of persuasion used to captivate potential customers. As I mentioned before they focused on the imagery, specifically color while showing a few sentences to better express their message. The first half of the commercial shows everything in white. There is a piano that is somberly playing a note as its stool is laying on the floor. In between every shot, there is a phrase giving the video more context. These phrases include, “Imagine creation without Freedom”, “Selection without choice”, and “progress without diversity”. They show a keyboard that is in all white and only has the letter “N” on every key, and shelves all filled with the same game called “Restriction 2.0”. This gives their audience the impression that AMD wants to create. As for the resolution of this bland world shown to viewers, the scene cuts of into a colorful, high-spirited environment. This shot includes many artistic looking, young people with the text, “Gamers live in a vibrant, inclusive and unique community. Radeon graphics exists to preserve it.” Using all bold and capitalized letters, they clearly state the mission of their brand while making the community known and welcoming. Taking advantage of technology, AMD used digital video marketing as well as brand marketing to advertise according to Clifford Chi in his article titled, “The Ultimate List of Types of Marketing”. AMD Radeon looked to inspire their audience into using their products.

Overall, in the United States, there are constantly new and improved products that consumers rush to purchase every day. How can companies ensure consumers that their products are the best? Advertising and marketing strategies are essential for any market. AMD Radeon represented their graphics cards with an amazing commercial showing off the freedom of using their products over competitors such as Intel. Through research on marketing and the specifications of AMD products compared to other leading brands, AMD Radeon is a success with performance, cooling, compatibility, making their brand extremely consumer-friendly, and their advertisement. They provide for a fast-changing and growing demand to their intended audience as well as alluring new customers. After extensive research on AMD, I am still most definitely a big fan of everything they offer to customers. They offer what they promise, “Freedom of Choice” and it really shows while using their products.
